” It seems we live in a time where leftists, who are normally complaining about global warming, are advocating for a global thermal nuclear war… over a hacked web server and Facebook ads.”
Critics from both side of the political spectrum were unhappy with President Donald Trump’s wording during a Monday press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin, but the reaction from many on the left drifted far into mass hysteria territory.
In the wake of an ongoing special counsel investigation that has uncovered several bias actors within the FBI, Trump stated his disappointment with the American intelligence community and reported that Putin has denied Russia played a part in the hacking of a DNC Internet server and the purchasing of Facebook ads that made Hillary Clinton look bad.
The reaction from the left came harshly and swiftly.
“Look, #traitor and #treason are very serious words. I have avoided them for nearly two years. But today’s #TrumpPutin summit cannot be sugarcoated with milder terms,” liberal commentator Peter Daou posted on Twitter. “The Republican Party is now hostage to the Kremlin, aiding and abetting a foreign attack on our democracy.”

Twitter user Teresa Rhodes recommended military intervention.

Rhodes was backed up by a US Congressman. Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) tweeted, “Where are our military folks ? The Commander in Chief is in the hands of our enemy!”

On the cable news channels, CNN spent several minutes on the definition of the word treason, while MSNBC paraded Jill Wine-Banks, a former Watergate prosecutor, who likened two sentences from Trump to the 9-11 and Pearl harbor attacks, which left a combined 5,399 Americans dead.
“His performance today will live in infamy as much as the Pearl Harbor attack or Kristallnacht.”

US Senator and failed presidential candidate Bernie Sanders posted a video where he said, “At the Helsinki Summit yesterday, President Trump embarrassed our country, undermined American values, and openly sided with Russia’s authoritarian leader Vladimir Putin.” Sanders failed to remind us about his own love affair with Moscow. In 1988, in the midst of the Cold War, Sanders chose the Soviet Union as the destination for his honeymoon.
While Trump says he will continue down the path of “bold diplomacy,” many of his adversaries are calling for action against the Russians. It seems we live in a time where leftists, who are normally complaining about global warming, are advocating for a global thermal nuclear war… over a hacked web server and Facebook ads.
