Members of the NRA were informed on Monday of an impending membership rate increase that will take place later this summer.
“There’s simply no other way for NRA to confront the enormous threat we face in this year’s pivotal mid-term elections – and save our freedom,” Executive Vice President Wayne LePierre wrote in an email. “NRA dues will increase for only the second time in more than 20 years.”
LaPierre says protesters are being bankrolled by Michael Bloomberg and are blaming NRA members for the nation’s “most heinous crimes.”
“Cowardly politicians are using law-abiding gun owners as a scapegoat for their own disgraceful failure to get criminals off our streets, he continued. “Hypocrite celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and George Clooney are standing shamelessly behind armed guards and telling you that you have no right to protect your own home and family.”
LaPierre wrote that there is a concerted effort to “put gun-ban extremists back in control of Congress this November, and to put our country back on the road toward gun bans and the ultimate destruction of our Right to Keep and Bear Arms.”
“We’ve seen orchestrated marches designed to poison the debate and deliver millions of votes to gun-ban candidates this November,” he stressed. “We’ve seen bullhorns blaring that NRA members have blood on their hands. And crowds whipped into a mindless, violent anti-gun frenzy – cheered on by a media that hates our freedom to the core.”
The email urged members to extend their memberships now to avoid the fee increase.
“PLEASE help NRA fight back in the final weeks of the 2018 campaign against anti-gun liars and elites who believe in one set of freedoms for themselves, and another set of freedoms for you and me,” LaPierre continued.
According to the email, the NRA membership fee increase is scheduled to take place on August 1.
