The Swamp’s BIG LIE About Border Security And Passing The Trump Agenda

Once again, the budget is looming and folks in Washington are pretending it’s a surprise that snuck up out of nowhere.

Congress has a September deadline to pass appropriations or the government will shut down — for the third time this year. On the table: a border wall and immigration reform.

The Senate Appropriations Committee has given approval to move forward with a $1.6 billion border bill, but their counterparts in the House want $5 billion. Under the current Senate rules, any measure would require the support of at least some Democrats and the Dems have already stated $5 billion is a “non-starter.”

President Donald Trump weighed in on Sunday. “I would be willing to ‘shut down’ government if the Democrats do not give us the votes for Border Security, which includes the Wall,” Trump tweeted. “Must get rid of Lottery, Catch & Release etc. and finally go to system of Immigration based on MERIT! We need great people coming into our Country!”

All of these things are entirely possible, given the fact that Republicans control the House, Senate, and Oval Office. The one thing keeping the American people from getting what they voted for is a single Senate rule that requires a super majority of votes to get it done.

The super majority rule requires 60 votes to pass meaningful legislation, like border control, as opposed to a simple majority rule that would require only 51 votes.

Our Senate currently has 51 Republicans. Senate rules are determined by the ruling the party. Simply put, Mitch McConnell can change the rule to allow a simple majority – Any. Time. He. Wants.

But he hasn’t and he won’t.

This begs the question of why won’t he? Unfortunately, only those in his inner circle know the answer to this question, but we can speculate.

As easy as it would be for Harry Potter to say some magic words and wave his wand, Mitch McConnell could change the rules, allowing just a simple majority of votes to pass the entire Donald Trump Agenda. They even have a name for it. They call it the “nuclear option.”

Scary name, right? Well, they want you to think so. They want you to believe the nuclear option is this catastrophic decision that could wind up turning the country into a socialist Utopia, if the Democrats get control back.

There’s your big lie.

The truth is, even if Mitch McConnell doesn’t use the nuclear option, there is NOTHING stopping the Democrats from using it if or when they get control of the House and Senate in the future.

It’s a fugazi. A wazi, a wuzi. Fairy dust.

They call it something that sounds dangerous, like “the nuclear option” in hopes we will all think it’s a radical idea. But what is radical about saying the majority rules? The real fact is it’s just a way for the SWAMP on both sides to keep themselves from getting what they tell the voters they are fighting so hard for.

What really matters to the swamp is that the right legislation… that keeps the lobbyists fat and the donors pouring money… is the legislation that gets passed.

That’s where we come in. We MUST share the knowledge and we MUST put on our own lobbying hats. We can start by letting as many people as we can know about the big lie. Then, we must contact our Senators’ offices to let them know we are in on the scam and demand they push McConnell to change the rules.

With Republicans controlling the legislative and executive branches of government, we have an opportunity pass the Donald Trump agenda that we voted for, but it won’t happen as long as we keep buying what the SWAMP is selling.
